the impression

“First impressions are everything”

In my 17 years of life if there is one thing that I have learned it’s that the person you picture in your head is different than the person standing in front of you. Maybe I am just really bad at reading people, but I’d like to think there is always more to a person than meets the eye. Being a senior has its benefits, by your last year of high school you have mastered every get-to-know-you game in the book, except maybe two truths and a lie (seriously teachers why) these games are designed to help you get acquainted with your classmates, and I can honestly say that just because someone “went on a vacation this summer” or “plays golf” or says their “favorite movie is Nacho Libre” doesn’t mean I know them any better than I did 10 seconds earlier. If it’s true that first impressions are always wrong then they are also the least important. Which statistically means that in the 30 seconds you have been on this blog, whatever it is you are think about me is going to be wrong 83% of the time. Unless you thought I made that number up, in which case your first impression of me is 100% right.

So, if first impressions aren't everything, then what is?

The last impression. The last memory a person will ever have of you. How you leave something is always more important than how you found it. Somebody’s emotions and thoughts that you put inside of them is how you are going to be remembered. Last impressions are everything because you never know when they are going to happen.

And that’s too much pressure for me so I am just going to leave you with this:

  3. I love how you brought up the last impression because honestly that's what counts. People don't realize that.

I can't get over how true this is. The last time memory is the one you will always look back at. It's the one you don't want to mess up because you don't get a redo. Your post inspires me to make every moment count because you don't know when it could the last moment, the final memory. Thank you.
